European Conference on Gender Equality in Higher Education and Research

The French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), the Université Paris Diderot, Université Sorbonne Nouvelle- Paris 3 and the Université Sorbonne Paris Cité (USPC), with strong support from the French Ministry for National Education, Higher Education and Research, are inviting researchers, professors, administrators, policy-makers, practitioners and students to Paris, on 12-14 September 2016, to attend the 9th European Conference on Gender Equality in Higher Education.

The European Conferences on Gender Equality have since 1998 brought regularly together hundreds of gender equality actors from Europe and beyond.

The European Network on Gender Equality provide an international forum to share about good practices and experiences as well as research results concerning changes and challenges related to gender equality in academia.

The promotion of gender equality and its implementation in Higher Education and Research institutions are also brought forward at this occasion. Since 1998, the European Conference on gender equality has been organised eight times, roughly every two years, with the latest one having been hosted by the Vienna University of Technology in September 2014.

The European Network on Gender Equality in Higher Education has since 1998 been contributing to the continuity as well as the organisation of these encounters. In September 2016, France is hosting this event for the first time. Research on gender equality, including research on women in academia in particular, is well developed in France and has grown considerably these past ten years. France has also put into action since 2012 an important legislative and regulatory machinery aimed at ensuring effective equality between women and men in all sectors of society and in Higher education and Research particularly. Its institutions, as well as its associations and companies, are involved in numerous concrete steps, and also partnership has been developed with various European networks. Especially, France is the project coordinator for the GENDER NET-ERA NET, which will be holding its final conference as part of this 9th Conference.

The L'Oréal Foundation is delighted to be a partner of the 9th European Conference on Gender Equality in Higher Education and Research.

Through its partnership with the conference, the L'Oréal Foundation-L'Oréal Women in Science will be able to meet gender equality leaders from Europe and beyond, and increase the visibility of its cause.
